March 31, 2012 Wow! I see that I haven't written since last November so I'll apologize for that first. I have been painting though but seem to do it in fits and starts--busy for a week and then off for two or three weeks with trips, grandchildren and other things. I find it hard to keep momentum during the winter months. On my website, you can see "Goldfish", "Evening on the River", "Nashwaak Glory" and "Sundance", all paintings I did from photos in my studio. I also have some plein air pieces on my website from the last few months, including "Conflicted", "Closure", "Hillside in Blue", "Joy Ride" and "No Access". "Closure" and "No Access" were done at the Experimental Farm in Fredericton where we often walk Putney, our chocolate brown cocker spaniel. "Sundance" was done on a very sunny and happy Sunday morning after a heavy snowfall overnight. I loved the light in that scene! "Hillside in Blue" is one which I felt turned out particularly well and I have it entered in a couple of competitions. Some of these paintings will be available in the 2012 Fredericton Society of Artists Spring Exhibition which will be held in early June. These paintings can be seen here: http://brucenewman.com/recent.paintings/ This spring, I'm hoping to get outside a lot to paint as I do each year. This year, however, I'm hoping to have some company as PAPNB (Plein Air Painters of New Brunswick) becomes a little more active. We formed our group last fall but only got out to paint once before the bad weather hit. I'm looking forward to having lots of fun with this group over the summer and have a few interesting things in mind! In late June, I'll be going to the Adirondacks in New York once again to paint. Now that I have a feel for the area, I hope to bring back some better paintings this year. I guess that is about all for this time. Please take a moment and enjoy the work that I have done over the last few months. I'm sure many of you will recognize familiar scenes which might even trigger memories. I'd love to hear any comments that you have concerning any feelings the paintings evoked in you. Thanks so much for your friendship and support.
